The levels in Cuphead are built like in all retro-style platformers. Nobody is very happy when it comes to returning their debts, and you have to make sure your money aren’t lost for good! Do you think you can handle that? Then let’s go! Run, jump, fight and upgrade your hero! The enemies you are going to meet on your path are all your former partners at the gambling table. You won’t see him pouring any tea or coffee there, but you will repeatedly see his glinting eyes and jubilant smile after he passes another daring level! The whole point of the gameplay is to run through the level as fast as possible to finish it in the shortest time while beating all the monsters and collecting a maximum number of bonuses.
He has a cup in place of his head, whatever it means. All of them look somewhat strange, and our hero is no exception.
So who is Cuphead? The backstory tells us he comes from an island inhabited by avid gamblers. Everything in the best traditions of the genre!
